I own a restaurant wine program consulting business, Guy du Vin, LLC and I consult for restaurants in the Pacific Northwest and across the United States. I have also created an innovative on line retail program focused on value-based, individualistic, often esoteric wines via an email newsletter. In December of 2002, I launched www.guyduvin.com.

I spent time living and studying in the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia back in the 70′s. It was during this time that the  proximity to Western Europe allowed me to travel extensively throughout France, Italy, Austria, and Germany, and develop a fascination and passion for wine.

This lead to a 25 year career in the restaurant business developing and managing wine programs all over the United States. In 2000 I started my wine consulting business, Guy du Vin.

Guy du Vin has won a number of awards for wine programs over the years. In 1999, 2000 and 2001 Southpark Seafood Grill and Wine Bar was awarded a Santé Award for Top West Coast Restaurant Bar and Wine Spectator’s top restaurant for wine lovers. The restaurant has also received accolades from Bon Appetit, Food Arts, Restaurant Hospitality, Food and Wine, and Nation’s Restaurant News for their food & wine. In April of 2002, I won America’s Best Wine List Award in the fine dining category for Southpark Seafood Grill and Wine Bar from the Monterey Wine Festival. In 2004, I again captured the America’s Best Wine List award from the Monterey Wine Festival, this time in the “Under 50 Selections category”, for my work at Lauro Mediterranean Kitchen in Portland, Oregon. I have also won the Best Wine List in America – Short List from Restaurant Hospitality Magazine in 2005.

I judge at many wine competitions including the Best of Riesling Competition in Bingen Germany;  the Dallas Morning News Wine Competition in Dallas Texas and the Oregon Wine Awards Competition in Portland Oregon among others. I was a speaker at the Chilean Sommelier Symposium in 2008 and was on the Advisory Board for the Oregon Liquor Control Commission in 2007.
